The clown-like masks exist within a construct referred to as “The Circus of Souls” where each character formed is tethered to a distinct emotion that connects to the animated alphabet known as “26 Tribes of Alphabeasts” Each mask is a representative of one of the tribes. By using the clown as an archetype of emotional complexity and veil, color is treated as a spiritual and intuitive process that sculpts the forms and expressions of each portrait. The masks explore animated portraiture and a hierarchy of visual information through textures.
